Overview & Establishment

African Relief and Development Association (ARDA)

The African Relief and Development Association (ARDA) is an African non-profit humanitarian and development organization established in 2023 to alleviate the suffering of populations affected by crises, disasters, poverty, and displacement, while supporting local communities in achieving stability, self-reliance, and sustainable development.

ARDA integrates emergency humanitarian response with long-term developmental programming by providing life-saving aid, supporting food security and livelihoods, improving access to WASH and health services, advancing education and capacity building, empowering women and youth, and protecting vulnerable groups and orphans.

Background & Motivation

Many African communities face interconnected challenges, including poverty, unemployment, fragile basic services, armed conflicts, forced displacement, natural disasters, climate change, and limited access to healthcare and clean water.

From this reality emerged the vital need to establish an African-led institution rooted within communities, deeply understanding their priorities, delivering practical and sustainable solutions, and bridging relief, development, and peacebuilding. ARDA was created to fulfill this mandate as an institutional platform for collective action and transformative partnerships.
